Referrals
Clients can self-refer to our service, we also accept referrals from GP’s Legal practitioners, HSE, Tusla, community and private organisations.
We ask all referring agents to include the reason for referral and any important areas for consideration.
Legal practitioners, please highlight if the matter is before the court and if a report is required, please include the date when the report is required. Further information, such as other professional reports and the book of evidence can also be forwarded at the point of referral.
Assessment Payments
If a person is before the court, their solicitor can make a submission to legal aid to cover the cost for the report. If a person was referred by another government agency, the cost may be covered by the referring agency. If no funding has been gained the individual must pay for the report.
Please note that reports must be paid in full prior to release.
Therapy cost
Individuals will most likely need to cover the cost of their treatment.
Private health funds may cover part of the psychological treatment, but it will not cover assessment or funding for reports. Please check with your health care provider to confirm.
Treatment and assessment locations
We have an office in Longford and Mullingar, we can avail of other consulting rooms throughout Ireland. We can also visit clients who are currently in prison. We are able to facilitate therapeutic interventions via secure online video platforms.
Treatment duration
We recommend booking a 60 minute session, however 30 minute sessions are available, for those who wish to have an initial introductory session without committing to the full 60 minutes.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of psychological practice. Your psychologist will maintain strict confidentiality about everything discussed in your sessions, with limited exceptions related to the risk of harm to self or others. In depth description of confidentiality pertaining to your assessment and or treatment will be explained during your first appointment.
Psychologists at CPFP are guided by the PSI Code of Professional Ethics, which is based on respect for rights and dignity of the person, competence, responsibility and integrity.
Cancelations
Cancellations of more than 48 hours’ notice: No Charge.
Cancellations between 48-24 hours’ notice incur a 50% fee of the total session cost.
Cancellations of less than 24 hours incur a 100% fee of the total session cost.
Reports
Forensic psychological assessments are an important resource for criminal proceedings often used to explore future risk and potential for change. These reports can offer the court a structured and evidenced based clinically-informed evaluation on an individual’s mental health, neurodevelopmental profile, and relevant life experiences.

The cost for reports can vary, due to differing requirements for various reports and levels of complexity.
Legal and reports for the courts are often between €1800-€2400
